Welcome to the University of York Volleyball Club (UYVC) home page. This site is designed so that members and non-members can find information regarding the club, training, fixtures, results, as well as upcoming and past events. We hope that this site will be a means for anyone who is interested in getting involved with the club to get in contact with us. The UYVC has men's and women's first teams who both represent the university in British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS), playing in the North East division. We also participate in other tournaments throughout the year and in recent years have become a competitive force in English volleyball with impressive finishes in our league and in national cup competitions.
The club also organizes beginner's sessions which are a great way for new players to hone their skills as well as a route for newer players into the first teams. In addition to all this volleyball there are regular events and socials. Most Wednesdays after matches, the teams meet in town or on campus for drinks. We also organize a Christmas dinner, and other more formal occasions.
As a club we take pride in the success we've had, we aim to continue and improve on previous years, and we are always happy to see new people becoming involved in the club. If you want any more information, email

The UYVC committee wishes everyone a happy new year full of volleyball fun! We look forward to the Spring term with a number of volleyball events.
Student Cup finals

The finals will take place on the 13th and 14th of February, and it promises to be an exciting weekend with many challenging matches! For more information, see http://www.volleyballengland.org/National_Cups/Student_Cup.php.
Another event to look forward to this term is Varsity, the yearly competition with York St. John university. Varsity will take place on the weekend of 27th and 28th February and the volleyball club will participate with the men's team, the women's team, and a mixed team. For more information about Varsity, please have a look at http://www.yusu.org/sport/varsity.
BUCS matches
This term, both the men's and the women's team will have a number of matches to play. The men will play against Hull and Liverpool John Moores, and the women will face Keele in the second round of the Knockout cup, and Newcastle, Sheffield Hallam, and Sheffield as part of the regular league. Good luck to both teams!
Socials
Next to all the serious volleyball, there will also be enough opportunities for some relaxing, a drink and a chat the coming term. The first social is planned for Wednesday the 20th of January and the theme is Pretty in Pink - see the Facebook event for more information: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=259292117161&index=1.
