UYVC Committee Meeting

10^th January 2007

Meeting Start: 1225 h

1. Training

Training times to remain the same as last term. Beginners’ sessions will continue only up to about half the term, as preparation for the ROSES mixed game should start by then.

2. Matches

24^th Jan—Women’s game 4pm in the main hall, against Northumbria. Men to assist in scoring and refereeing.

*31^st Jan—Women’s game. Away, against York St. John

31^st Jan—Men’s game 6pm in the main hall, against Liverpool. Women to return after YSJ match to assist in scoring and refereeing.

*YSJ yet to confirm the match on the 31^st; Adele from the AU office to email Charmain once she has news

3. ROSES

4^th-6^th May; no new information from the last meeting

Possibility of a social after ROSES

Mixed training to begin some time this term, roughly timed to replace the beginners’ session

4. Merchandise

Men’s kit sorted; Women’s kit on order. Women to wear old kit if the team is required to be uniform, since only 5 sets of jerseys were ordered. Merchandise orders yet to be completed, and hopefully will be sorted by Monday/Thursday of Week 2. Ben has stated that he is not stepping in to handle merchandise at all.

5. Finance

Nick reported that the finances are positive, and he is waiting for the Finance Office to provide an updated budget printout. The major spending this term will be on the Student Cup finals for the men.

6. Student Cup

Finals held on 10^th & 11^th Feb. *Note change from previous meeting’s minutes, where it is stated as 11^th and 12^th Feb.

Transport options include Matt’s car + people carrier, or hiring a minibus. Matt has volunteered to drive his car if that is the best option. Men to decide if they will stay overnight in Leeds, or return to York for the night and go back to Leeds the next morning.

The cost for the Student Cup finals is estimated at £716. Match fees of £4-£6 will go towards covering some of the costs.

7. Socials

Welcome-back social in week 2 or 3. Ben suggested Tuesday week 2. Volleyball bar crawl tentatively scheduled around week 7, on a Tuesday or Wednesday since season will be over for both teams. Possibility also of a social event after Varsity.
